What Can I Expect After Receiving Fraxel Treatment?
Everyone will react to the FraxelⓇ laser treatment differently, with the ultimate outcome depending on the depth of the procedure, the number of sessions, and the overall condition of your skin before the procedure is performed. As is customary with most skin treatments, the most common side effect will be some redness and swelling on the treated area. This can be accompanied with dry skin, light flaking, and “bronzed” skin. In essence, it’s like having a bad sunburn, the severity of which is determined by how aggressive the procedure was.
How Do I Care For My Skin After the Procedure?
Following your treatment, you will want to wear sunscreen with an SPF factor of 30 or higher for at least three months. The initial results of the procedure will become apparent depending on the treatment setting and what we are treating. For example, if we are targeting sun spots and sun damage you will see initial results approximately 5 days after procedure. What you will see is removal of the sun spots and sun damage with an even smooth skin color. This is what we call the ‘Wow” factor with improved results happening over the course of the next three to six months as your skin heals.
How Long Will the Results Last?
Since everyone’s skin is different, the effects of the treatment will vary. In order to prevent further skin damage, however, you will want to protect your skin regularly. This includes wearing sunscreen, utilizing a skin care regimen, and avoiding things that can damage the skin, such as smoking. The better you care for your skin, the more apparent the effects of Fraxel treatment will be as you get older.
