Cosmetic surgeries are a life saver! Women today, are resorting to breast

liposuction to get the perfectly shaped body. The top notch breast augmentation surgeries
available today, cater to a number of women to help in contouring the
breasts to the desired shape.
Women undergo breast implant surgeries for varied reasons. Sometimes, women prefer going under the knife to enhance their naturally small breasts. In some other cases, women opt for this surgery so as to get fuller breasts, especially post-pregnancy, as breast-feeding can take away some of the volume of breasts. It can also help in dealing with disproportionate breasts, in making them look symmetrical.
Types of Impants
Implants are typically chosen by the patient, along with the plastic surgeon, based on the desired effect that needs to be achieved. The type of implant used is determined by factors like,
- Texture of the implant- The implant can chosen to be of either smooth or rough texture. While the smooth textured implants are easier to remove, the rougher ones have a reduced risk of implant hardening.
- Shape of the implant- Implants are typically either tear-drop shaped or round in shape. Patients choose the shape of the implants based on the contour they want to achieve.
- Composition of the implant- The two types of implants based on their composition are silicone and saline. Silicone implants are filled with silicone gel while saline implants are filled with salt water that is sterile. Silicone implants tend to feel natural. Saline implants feel firmer when compared to their silicone counterparts.
How it is Done
Firstly, the cosmetic surgeon will conduct the required measurements and mark the incision points on the body. Following this, the patient is administered anesthesia so as to prep him for the surgery. Once the patient is sedated, incision are made so as to insert the implants. The incision are typically made around the areola or under arms or under the breast fold. A pocket is created either on top or under the pectoral muscle. The shaping and placement of the pocket greatly affects how the procedure turns out. Following this, the implants are carefully placed in the pocket. In case of saline implants, they're filled at the time of surgery, while silicone implants come pre-filled. While correcting disproportionate breasts, the cosmetic surgeon fills the implants accordingly. Once the implants are placed, the surgeon closes the implants with sutures. Sometimes, the surgeons puts in drains before stitching up the incisions. This helps in preventing accumulation of fluid and is removed during the post-op visit.
Recovery and Replacement
The implant placement and incision techniques affect the recovery period of the patient. Post surgery, the patient is advised to rest for two or more days and to engage in minimal physical activity for the next few days. The likelihood of rupture requires for most implants to be replaced after a few years.
